With Israel poised to escalate their bombardment of Gaza, the global community must do everything it can to prevent civilian loss of life by holding Israel to account for its illegal actions

Dear Friend,

As Israel carries out its latest bombing assault on Gaza, the people of Palestine need our solidarity more than ever. We need as many as possible out on the streets this Saturday 30th to show that Palestine is not alone.

. We have called on the UK government to push for an immediate ceasefire – you can read our press release here

But these bombings are just the latest in a string of intensified attacks on the people of Palestine. This Saturday 30th March marks one year since the start of the Great Return March which has seen thousands of protesters demonstrating every week for their fundamental right to return to the homes from which they were expelled in 1948 and 1967.

Just last week, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a report which accused Israel of committing war crimes against unarmed civilians along the Gaza fence, including medics, journalists and children. Since the start of the Great Return March, over 200 demonstrators have been killed and over 27000 injured – that’s more than during the entire 2014 war on Gaza.

On top of this, Israel has further entrenched its system of oppression; passing a racist nation state law, maintaining its crippling siege on Gaza, and continuing to rapidly expand illegal settlements in defiance of international law. Meanwhile, Trump’s cuts to UNRWA funding are part of a wider attempt to redefine the refugee status of millions of displaced Palestinians and erase their fundamental Right of Return.

These together represent a serious assault on the collective rights of the Palestinian people. They need our solidarity more than ever, and are calling for global protests to protect their rights – PSC Branches have responded by organising actions at over 20 different UK locations this Saturday!

Join the London rally
Whether or not you are able to physically attend an event this Saturday, there are still several things you can do help spread the word:

  • SHARE the London rally event or other local event on Facebook
  • INVITE all your friends to the Facebook event
  • TWEET about the day of action. Here’s an example:
“On Saturday we rally for #Palestine! The collective rights of the Palestinian people are under increasing attacks from #Israel & allies – we must answer their call for solidarity. JOIN US: https://www.facebook.com/events/421148881781618/ #ExistResistReturn #FreePalestine”

This Saturday’s national day of action is a key step towards mobilising for the National Demo for Palestine taking place on Saturday 11th May in central London. We need thousands marching in the streets to defend the collective rights of the Palestinian people – and your help will be crucial in making that happen. Be sure to share the event, invite all your friends, and get planning for how you’ll get as many people as possible there from your local area!

Finally, can you help us to fund these crucial events by chipping in whatever you can afford?

Chip in to help fund our events
Now more than ever, we must show that the people of Palestine are not alone. See you on the streets on Saturday!

In solidarity,

Ben Jamal
PSC Director
