David Cameron’s policy advisor stated publicly today that Theresa May should resign, and Peter Kirkham, former Senior Investigating Officer for the Metropolitan Police said on the news that the Government is lying about police cuts.
Despite what we have been told from the start of this election campaign, it’s now entirely conceivable that the Tories could lose the election on Thursday. The Tories’ arrogance that they’d enter into this and come away with a bigger majority has backfired spectacularly.
Everyone can make a difference between now and Thursday to help make sure they’re not returned to office.
BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN AND TOUR
We have raised close to £40,000 off the back of our billboard campaign.
A huge thanks to those who have donated so far. It’s not too late to make a donation – we can add more to our plan. Please donate if you haven’t already
Here’s the plan for the next few days with the money raised:
We’ve now hired digital poster space in service station forecourts across the country in almost 400 locations.
These will be live from today until Thursday, a full list of locations will be available on our website tomorrow.
BILLBOARD VAN TOUR
We have 7 billboard vans touring the country from tomorrow until Thursday.
Areas include London, South West, South Yorkshire, South Wales, North East & East Anglia.
Local groups are organising photo shoots and press calls over the next few days with the vans.
On Wednesday in London we’re hiring an open top ‘battle bus’ from 12pm – 7pm which will be touring around London behind a Billboard Van.
We’ll be blasting out the Liar Liar song, reminding people to vote, and telling people the truth about damaging Tory policy. If you’d like to come on the bus please email email@example.com – we have limited space but we’d like a number of our supporters to join us.
Watch and share the new track ‘Dear Theresa’ from young hip hop artist Tommy Walton which has been inspired by the campaigns over the last few weeks. Can we get this video viral?
Watch & share on:
Captain Ska’s ‘Liar Liar’ song got to No.4 in the official charts on Friday.
The BBC Radio 1 chart show refused to play the song – so we held a protest party outside broadcasting house with a live performance from the band. Click here for a clip of the protest.
If you haven’t already, you can still download the track – all proceeds before the election will be split between the People’s Assembly and food banks across the UK.
Captain Ska will be hosting a pre-election gig this Wednesday 7 June at the Brixton Jamm in London from 7:30pm. Get tickets here
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEETING
Delegate meeting open to affiliated organisations and local People’s Assembly groups.
This is where we’ll discuss the results of the General Election and plan the next steps and priorities for our campaign.
If you’re an affiliated group you can send up to two delegates.
If you haven’t received details in your email please let us know and we’ll send you the details.
SUPPORT US WITH A REGULAR DONATION
All of this takes a huge amount to organise and whatever the result of the election we will still need to maintain pressure on the big business, corporations and politicians to end austerity.
Please consider setting up a regular donation to the People’s Assembly and help us sustain the work we do. Click here to set up a donation
