PUT THE POLITICIANS ON THE MINIMUM WAGE AND WATCH HOW FAST THINGS CHANGE
Civilisation has operated in two ways - To make one part of society more affluent and the other more wretched than would have been the lot of either in a natural state
There are Natural Rights and Civil Rights. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness
Where Our Power to Execute Our Natural Rights is Perfect, Government has No Legitimate Jurisdiction
When the Forces for War are Greater than the Forces for Peace   Then the World is in Danger
Politics is not a Dirty Word. It is a Way of Life. How is Your Way of Life Today ?

THE SATURDAY GARDEN STORY – HOME GROWN – ERRATIC WEATHER – CHOOSING THE RIGHT CROPS

 weather 1

THE MET OFFICE SAY THIS HAS BEEN THE DRYEST AND HOTTEST MAY ON RECORD AND THEY SHOULD KNOW- THEY OFTEN GET IT SO WRONG ?   GROWERS KNOW IT HAS BEEN THE WINDIEST!!!!

WEATHER -THERE’S EITHER TOO MUCH OR TWO LITTLE OF IT AND IT IS ALWAYS IN THE WRONG PLACE.

WELCOME TO CLIMATE CHANGE 21ST CENTURY STYLE

CHOOSING THE RIGHT CROPS HAS BEEN THE SAME LOTTERY FARMERS FACE YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT.

THEY MUST PLAN YEARS AHEAD LET ALONE SEASONS AHEAD. SOMETHINGS SUPERMARKETS DONT NEED TO DO

HARVESTING CROPS – BE IT PLANTS OR ANIMALS BUT BE DONE WHEN THE PRODUCT IS READY – NOT SO SUPERMARKETS – IF A TIN OF BAKED BEANS DOESN’T SELL THIS WEEK IT STAYS ON THE SHELF UNTIL NEXT WEEK.

I DIGRESS MUST PRODUCING FOOD IS ABOUT SELECTION AND NOT  PUTTING ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET.

IN COLD WEATHER – GROW PARNIPS BROAD BEANS KALE CABBAGE TURNIPS RHUBARB & POTATOES

IN HOT WEATHER -GROW TOMATOES CHILLIES PEPPERS FRENCH BEANS CUCUMBER & COURGETTES

IN WET WEATHER- CELERY SQUASHES CHARD PACK CHOI WATERCRESS & BLUEBERRIES

IN DRY WEATHER – ASPASRAGUS GRAPES RASPBERRIES STRAWBERRIES GOOSEBERRIES BLACK CURRANTS SPRING ONIONS LEEKS PEAS SWEET CORN &  BEETROOT –

ALL PLANTS NEED WATER TO THRIVE AND THIS LIST IS A GUIDE

BUT THE EXPERTS DO NOT TELL YOU WHAT TO GROW WHEN THE WIND GETS TO STORM DAMAGE PROPORTIONS-

THIS YEAR OUR EARLY ONE METRE HIGH BROAD (HAS) BEANS HAD TO BE ROPED IN.
