Wo-men – All Washed up ?
Soaking the Secret to Washing up
Rinsing and Draining
Saving Suds, Water and Time
Making a chore much easier too
The secret to washing up after a meal is to put the pots to soak before the meal.
If you have one sink unit you will need a spare washing up bowl.
Better is a sink and a half
Better still is a double sink with a washing up bowl in each
Washing up bowls save crockery cracks.
Before eating fill one bowl and soak in cold water with a dash of liquid, as many of the used cooking utensils as possible.
After the meal clear away into the other bowl the plates and cutlery with cold water and a dash of liquid.
Then retire for as long as possible but 4-6 hours is perfect especially if you are on Economy 7.
To wash up rinse off,to the “dirty side”, until the hot water arrives in the tap. Clear and clean the bowls.
Add hot water & modest liquid to the washing up bowl and clean cold to the other as the rinsing bowl.
Use a small sponge with a green abrasive strip and a handled brush as required.
Wash glassware first, then crockery front and back, then cutlery – soaking in clean water and draining as you go on, to a rack or tea towel.
Pots and pans may need a bit of elbow grease but much less than if they had not been soaking.
After rinsing and draining put away when dry.
