After my email last month, an incredible 81,240 of you told me TV has become more important to you since the lockdown began.
Almost 50,000 of you took the time to explain what a lifeline TV has been throughout this crisis, and reading your comments has made us all more determined than ever to save the free TV licence for over-75s.
We told the papers just how many of you replied and what you told us, and lots of journalists have written stories about it today. You can see articles in the The Mirror and The Express and Star.
These news stories are so important and I wanted to thank you for making them happen. This really helps us keep up the pressure on the BBC to delay the introduction of the scheme, so that no one has to leave their home to get a TV licence when it’s not safe. It also puts more pressure on the Government and the BBC to reach an agreement to save free TV licences for over 75s. We know you’re being heard.
I will let you know as soon as I hear anything more.
