Welcome rain fell on Good Friday.
15th April 2017
We have been watering small pots of bedding plants, peas, broad beans and potatoes for weeks now both in and out of the Greenhouse.
Fortunately we have two 1000 litre or 250 gallon tanks along with three 40 gall barrels all of which were getting low.
But then this is Lincolnshire, “up corn” and a breadbin of England.
The yellow flowers of the Oil Seed Rape have been in bloom for some weeks
and our cooking apple tree looks a peach with its pale pink flowers.
The Wisteria tree is about to flower too.
Yes we are on the move but that has not stopped us growing plants for sale and plant and to follow the magnificent display of Daffodils followed by hundreds of Narcissi Winston Churchill in pots.
So we successfully offered a selection of plants for sale yesterday.
Marigolds, Calendula, Pansies, Godetia Mesenbryanthemum and California Poppy
all easy to start.
We have Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts and Moneymaker Tomato plants too.
Normally we dont start planting out until May but with the Daffodils coming to an end and Easter coming later we tested the market and the soil.
Our soil is healthy enough since I soil tested the raised beds and gave them a dusting of Lime.
The garden is managing itself as witnessed by the number of weeds that have appeared.
