NHS FOR PROFIT NOT PEOPLE IS NOT FUCKING WORKING

Dear Friend,

Test and trace is in free fall. If you’re feeling worried about test and trace, you’re not alone. It’s so clear that the privatisation of both is failing. The government won’t admit its failings and let the NHS and local public health teams lead, and it’s causing SO much distress and harm. So we’re going to mobilise to make them listen.

Join us on Monday for an online call to hear where the campaign is at, and to pledge to take action next week for safe test and trace in public hands!

Join on the call – Monday 21st 6:30-7:30pm – to take action!
Testing is being run by the likes of private corporations G4S, Serco and Deloitte, and they’re failing. While we’ve found it hard to get access to the contracts for contact tracing, insider sources suggest that Sitel’s contracts for contact tracing are set to be renewed on October 4th. We don’t know how long Serco’s has been renewed for but we think it is likely to be similar.

Regardless of whether that is the case, we need to ramp up the pressure to push for contact tracing and testing that is run in public hands, for people not profit.

Serco have got multiple contracts and failing on each one. Contact tracing staff reported that they had nothing do but watch Netflix all day, s

We have a week of actions we need you to take part in, so that Matt Hancock feels that he has to act to give local NHS and public health teams more funds – all we need you to do is join us on Monday 21st, for an hour at 6:30pm!

We’ll take you through the campaign, the actions you can take, plus we’ve got amazing speakers on Monday, including Professor and iSAGE member Allyson Pollock, the brilliant Professor John Ashton, and Dr Louise Irvine of Keep our NHS Public.

Today’s headlines show Amazon could be in line to get a huge test and trace contract too! The constant cash giveaways to private companies won’t stop unless we show our resistance to them together.

While it’s only in England that track and trace is privatised, whether you’re in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales are in UK, we need your help to get public, safe track and trace! Please sign up to the call now to help get our test and trace in public hands.

Thank you for taking action! Your help to keep the campaign on the agenda, and bring it to Hancock’s attention is hugely appreciated. We really look forward to seeing you on Monday!

Don’t worry if you can’t make it! We’ll have more actions you can take soon!

We can’t do any of this campaigning without you and we’re so lucky to have people like you doing your bit for public ownership of our public services every week.

Solidarity,

Cat, Chris, Johnbosco, Alice, Pascale and the We Own It team

P.S. With our new campaigner Johnbosco on the case already, we’re cooking up big plans for the trade bill campaign both to target the Lords and MPs so that they feel the pressure in both houses. Please stay posted in the next week to help protect the NHS in trade bills!

In the meantime, please do sign up to our call on Monday 21st September to find out more about our campaign for public test and trace and to take action!
