“WETHER” MEN PREDICTED A VERY COLD WINTER
6th Nov 2017
It was Autumn and there were lots and lots of berries in the Hedgerows
So the Ornithologists and Farmers wanted to know
if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild.
Both were unable to say, so the Bird Watchers Society and the Farmers Organisations
advised their members to stock up gardens and farms
to be on the safe side as it was going to be very cold
Collect lots of food for birds and farm animals was the message that went out.
But being practical people both organisations members decided
to take the matter into their own hands and called the Meterological Office
‘Is the coming winter going to be cold?’
‘It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,
‘the Meteorologist at the weather service responded.
So Bird Lovers and Farmer went back to their people and told them to collect even
more food in order to be prepared.
A week later, they both called the BBC National Weather Service
to check on the Met Office report .
‘Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?’
‘Yes, ‘the Weather man at BBC Weather Service again replied,
‘it’s going to be a very cold winter.’
So the Ornithologist and the Farmer went back to their people
and told them to stock up every last scrap of food they could find for birds and farm animals
Two weeks later, the BIrd Man and the Livestock Farmer
called the BBC Weather Service once again.
‘Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?’
‘Absolutely, ‘the BBC man replied.
‘It’s looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we’ve ever seen.’
‘How can you be so sure?’ they asked
The weatherman replied, ‘The Ornithologists and Farmers
are collecting massive loads of food
