Increase in visitors to Cuba
During the first four months of 2014, Cuba received 1,282,734 international tourists, a 5% increase over the same period last year, according to a report by the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI).
This continues the upward trend so far this year. According to ONEI statistics, Cuba ended January with 320,062 international tourists (+9.3%), February with 316,124 (+5.2%), March with 359,445 (+1.4%) and April with 287,103 (+4.8%). Canada remains the island’s principal tourist market, followed by Germany, the UK, France and Italy.
Figures published by the Ministry of Tourism show that 2,852,572 visitors arrived in Cuba in 2013, the majority from Canada (more than 1 million travelers), with many from the UK, Germany and France. An increase in revenue of approximately 100 dollars, per client, per day was also noted. (Granma International news staff)
