“I am determined to get answers and justice for my brother,” says Janet Alder. Her brother, Christopher Alder, died in police custody in Hull in 1998.
An inquest followed and his death was ruled unlawful but no one has ever been held accountable.
Two years after his death, the Alder family were finally able to bury Christopher. But, in what Janet describes as another “traumatic injustice”, his body was discovered in a mortuary in Hull eleven years later. The wrong body had been released to the family.
A criminal investigation followed but once again no one was held to account. Now Janet is taking legal action to demand answers.
