Karl Marx had several reasons, mostly independent of each other, to believe that capitalism would plausibly self destruct.

The first reason is that of which the proletariat would suffer escalating relative immiseration.

The second reason is that Marx believed competition would in due course, drive the effective rate of profit to zero.

The third reason is that Marx saw capitalism as subject to an infinite cycle of boom and bust, which was the case in his time

The fourth reason is not stated explicitly by Marx, rather, it is implied.

The reason is that of which the combination of the immiseration of the proletariat and the “manufacture of scarcity”, that is, the deliberate generation of poverty in order to keep the proletariat under control, would become so obvious that they would simply find capitalism morally repugnant.
